Veolia Sponsors Clean Up Australia Day for the 6th year
Feb 2007

In 2007, Veolia is once again proudly sponsoring the fantastic initiative, Clean Up Australia Day. Last year over 670, 000 people over Australia collected 8,450 tonnes of rubbish from beaches, parks, waterways and other important community bushlands and habitats.
In 2007 Clean Up Australia would like to see over 1 Million volunteers assisting to make Australia a cleaner place. Ian Kiernan, founder of Clean Up Australia stated “Australian households produce almost one tonne (0.9 tonnes) of greenhouse gas emissions each year when they send rubbish to landfill. Much of this rubbish can be recycled and this would reduce emissions,”.
Clean Up Australia Day will be held on March 4th and provides a fantastic opportunity for people to actively protect their environment. Veolia Environmental Services will be holding several registered sites including:
- Jack Vanny Memorial Park, Maroubra Beach, NSW
- Fox Street Bridge, Wynnum Creek, QLD
- Sandringham Yacht Club, Sandringham, VIC
For information on registering your own site visit http://www.cleanup.org.au/, or contact renee.fry@veoliaes.com.au to register your interest in participating in a VES run site.
