Veolia Environment Sponsors Awards Scheme for Clean Up Australia Day 2008.
Veolia Environment, Major Partner of Clean Up Australia for 2008 has developed 2 individual awards schemes this year to reward and recognise the efforts of individuals, local groups and local councils across Australia.
Clean Up Australia Day continues to be the largest, most effective community based environmental initiative in Australia. In 2007 over 1 million volunteers took part in the event and more then 8000 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish was collected and disposed of correctly.
In conjunction with Clean Up Australia, Veolia has lent their support to two individual awards schemes to be run throughout the 2008 Clean Up Events.

Veolia Environment - Local Council Environmental Award
Every local Council in Australia who participates in the 2008 Campaign is eligible for entry in this Award. The Award has been designed to recognise the efforts of Local Councils who engage, support and encourage their community to get involved.
The Council that is deemed to have shown the most commitment to the Clean Up Australia Day Campaign will be awarded $5000 courtesy of Veolia Environment to be used for a community based environmental project.
