RECYCLEPAK Answers
What is RECYCLEPAK? How will it work for me?
RECYCLEPAK is the fast and easy way to recycle straight fluorescent lamps and u-tubes. Simply order by calling toll-free on 1800 VEOLIA. Our price includes the shipping of packaging to you, return shipping and recycling. If required, we'll even send you a certificate of recycling to confirm your waste was recycled in an environmentally responsible manner.
How many packages can I return in a single day with this program?
Our RECYCLEPAK program is designed for small quantities of waste. Our courier allows for up to 25 packages a day to be returned. If shipping more than 25 packages a day, please arrange for multiple pickups with Veolia by calling 1800 VEOLIA.
Why can't I just throw my lamps in the trash?
Fluorescent lamps contain mercury and is considered a hazardous waste. When mercury enters the environment from emissions in the air, water or soil, it oxidises into other compounds of mercury. These other forms of mercury form methyl mercury, through either chemical or biological (bacterial) processes. Methyl mercury builds up in the tissues of fish and shellfish. In areas of mercury contamination, larger and older fish tend to have higher levels of mercury. The human nervous system is very sensitive to all forms of mercury. Methyl mercury and mercury metal vapours are especially harmful, because more mercury reaches the brain. Exposure to high levels of any types of mercury can permanently damage the brain, kidneys, and developing foetus. Effects on brain functions may result in irritability, shyness, tremors, and changes in vision or hearing and memory problems. High exposures of mercury vapour may cause chest pain, shortness of breath, and a build-up of fluids in the lungs (pulmonary oedema). This can cause death. Long-term exposures may cloud the eyes. Contact with mercuric chloride can cause burns to the skin and permanent damage to the eyes.
Is the RECYCLEPAK service available in all states?
Yes. Simply call 1800 VEOLIA to order your RECYCLEPAK.
Can I change my RECYCLEPAK order?
Yes. Orders can be edited or deleted up until your order is processed and shipped. If ordering via the RECYCLEPAK web site, you will receive a confirmation when your order is processed. Veolia ES will process and ship your order within 48 hours of receipt.
Can boxes be shipped to multiple addresses?
Yes. During the ordering process you can specify the delivery addresses for various quantities of RECYCLEPAK boxes.
How long will it take to receive my RECYCLEPAK?
Veolia will ship your RECYCLEPAK order within 48 hours of receipt. Please allow up to 5 days to receive your RECYCLEPAK.
Can I place broken lamps in RECYCLEPAK?
Fluorescent lamps are fragile and can break if handled improperly. RECYCLEPAK is intended for the storage and transportation of intact fluorescent lamps. Therefore, please do not place any broken lamps in the boxes.
What happens to my RECYCLEPAK after it leaves my site?
Upon leaving your site, your RECYCLEPAK will be delivered to the nearest Veolia-designated recycling facility for processing. There the waste is processed and recycled. A certificate of recycling is available on request.
How long will it take Veolia to send my certificate of recycling?
You will typically receive your certificate of recycling in approximately two weeks from the time you ship your RECYCLEPAK.
Is it possible to be subjected to additional charges?
Veolia may charge additional fees, if your RECYCLEPAK container exceeds weight limits as specified by the RECYCLEPAK packaging, if you ship materials in the wrong containers, or if you ship materials other than that specified by your RECYCLEPAK.
How do I become a distributor of RECYCLEPAK?
Call our RECYCLEPAK customer service at 1800 VEOLIA. We offer volume discounts and marketing support documents that make selling recycling easy. Our distributors and partners continue to see double digit growth year over year.
